Umiray

A few weeks ago I was shopping at Berruti’s Harvest House vegetable/fruit stand in South Glastonbury, when I met Umiray.  Actually, I noticed her vintage red cherry apron first and thought she would be perfect for my red boots project!  To my delight she agreed and was a willing participant. She reminded me of one of those models from an Anthropology Catalogue. She was awesome to work with and has such a distinct style.  She told me her yellow boots were in her car and thought maybe I would like to photograph them. Holy cow!(sorry, too much Farm Project talk!) They were so cool, way better then mine! See what you think.

Gutt Family Farm

Have you ever cut flowers at the Gutt Family Farm? Get over there soon before it’s too late! I was there a while ago photographing for the Farm Project and things were just starting to grow. Now with the summer we’ve had, hot and dry, things are growing like weeds!  Erin and Shawn met me there to be my models for a few images. Of course, I got carried away and photographed a bunch! Don’t forget to buy their corn, it’s sooo sweet. You don’t need any butter!

Oh, I remembered my Red Boots too!

Stella

Is she the sweetest dog in the whole wide world?!!! I’m a little biased because she is my girl! My daughter Kate helped out with this session (nice legs Kate!). I hope to use these for a dog portrait  campaign I’m planning for the future. I’ll let you know more when I get it all together but for now, contact me and we can plan a fun, stress free portrait session with your beloved “Pup”! Bring your shoes!

She got tired of the head band. I don’t blame her! Poor Stel, what we put her through. She did great and was very excited to get the animal crackers for a treat after we finished. Luv u Stel!

Sunflowers

While I was photographing Leah Beckett at the www.HartfordFarmersMarket.org last Thursday I couldn’t help but walk across the green to stare at the most beautiful cut sunflowers I had ever laid eyes on! I’m not joking, they looked fake they were so awesome! I kept shooting them while Maggie was packing up to leave. I think she thought I was a bit annoying but smiled when I said I would send her a few photos.

I don’t know about you but sunflowers make me smile. They’re so bright and happy!

Sweet Leah!

I finally photographed at the Stewart W. Beckett Farm www.BeckettFarms.net  at 1296 Main St. in Glastonbury for the Farm Project. Dr. “Chip” Beckett was expecting me and Leah, his daughter was to join us a half hour later. It was a beautiful summer night as the sun was going down over the fields. I met Leah at the Historical Society Meeting in June and we talked about getting together, not thinking it would take me this long to connect. Boy, am I glad we did, she is leaving for Spain to study aboard for the entire school year, how exciting!  Below are a few of the images I took of them together.

Well, I forgot to bring  my red boots along, so we made plans the next day to meet at the farmers market www.hartfordfarmersmarket.org in Hartford (next to the Firebox Restaurant) where she would be working. It looked like rain so I brought along my antique umbrella just in case. Leah was so comfortable in my red boots while she was working that everyone commented on how cute she looked! Chris, from Chaplin Farms thinks so too! I’m going to miss you Leah! Enjoy your adventure in Europe!
